Description

The Real Numbers Kit offers ample practice for students working individually, or for whole group instruction.

  • Real Numbers Gameboard:  Use with groups of 2-4 students to practice, split the class in half and use Gameboard under document camera, use for students who compact out (pass pretest). Teacher may play with a group of students who are struggling to understand the concept. Includes: gameboard, 4 game pieces, spinner, cards, rules and suggestions.
  • Classifying Real Numbers: Use with 1-2 students at a time, as silent seat work/center, as part of a Task Card to be completed on sub days, use under document camera for whole class review, practice, or note taking, use for students who compact out, or for students who are struggling to understand the concept. Includes: gameboard, cards, rules and suggestions.
  • Whiteboard Activities: Use spinner in Gameboard or categories or number cards from 5X5 BINGO set. Place number/category on the board, overhead, or under document camera. If numbers are used, students give the category(s) and show their board. If categories are used, students give a numerical example and show their board. Students and teachers get instant feedback. Includes: cards, suggestions.
  • Learning Log:  A writing activity to be used as a culmination, for students who compact out, for a test, as homework, or part of a portfolio on student learning.
  • QuizzesA Pretest and three other quizzes and a record sheet are included. Quizzes can be given in following days/weeks, where Real Numbers remain as part of the warm up and the Teacher may use class time to work one on one or in small groups with students who have not passed Quiz A or B. If, after taking Quiz C a student still does not “master” Real Numbers, then the best of the three quiz grades are recorded. Students, teachers, and parents are eager to see the growth from Pretest to Final Score.
  • 3 x 3 Bingo: These are blank cards where the student fills in the boxes. There are 3 rounds that can be played: regular Bingo, double Bingo, and Blackout. The teacher may post the numbers or categories on the board, under the document camera, or on the overhead. If the categories are used, being that there are 5, four of them will have to be repeated. There is NO “FREE” space in Tic-Tac-Toe BINGO. If the teacher decides to use numbers, then the spinner can be used for the categories. If categories are used, then the teacher pulls a number from the envelope. Includes: 30 double-sided Bingo cards, cards with numbers, cards with categories, chips, rules and suggestions.
  • 5 x 5 Bingo: Each student chooses their BINGO card. Each student, or group of students, is given a handful of chips. A dry erase marker can also be used. The teacher decides which side will be used: numbers-teacher gives categories, or names-teacher gives numerical examples. The teacher can use either spinner for categories or pull cards from the envelope. There are 3 rounds that can be played: regular Bingo, double Bingo, and Blackout. Includes: 30 double-sided Bingo cards (numbers on one side, categories on the other), cards with numbers, cards with categories, chips, rules and suggestions.
